Subject: Iranian Asylum Seekers
Date: July 28, 2020
Dear Foreign Minister,
We, the Union for Secular Republic & Human Rights in Iran, write to you to convey the international anger and disbelief at the deportation of two Iranian asylum seekers (Saeed Tamjidi, 28, and Mohammad Rajabi, 26) to Iran contrary to United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights Article 14 as these young men were and are in danger of death penalty in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
These two men have since been sentenced to death, which is temporarily on hold due to international pressure.
The wrongful treatment and the deportation of Iranian Asylum seekers and refugees in Turkey and their deportations can only intensify the European Union’s and the international concern over Turkey’s
Given Turkish Government’s role in the deportation of these two young Iranians; your government will personally be seen responsible for any harm caused to them, the worst being their execution by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Statistically Iranian immigrants have added social, cultural, and economic value to countries they have taken refuge in. We ask that you accept Iranian people seeking asylum in your country with open arms; should this not be possible to consider enabling these people in fear of persecution in Iran to move on to another country in which they can seek asylum and to reach safety. We ask you please to stop deportation of Iranian Asylum seekers to Iran where they will be persecuted and can face death.
Sincerely,
Mehdi Amini
