#StopExecutionsInIran
Islamic Republic of Iran’s death machine has once again taken an innocent life. This time Mostafa Salehi who was arrested in 2017 and charged without due process for trumped up charges of killing a security personnel was executed early Wednesday morning.
Very little is known about Salehi's trial, court proceedings and even the name of the lawyer who defended him against the murder charge.
The judiciary in Iran is not an independent entity and they report directly to the leader of the IRI, Ayatollah Khamenei. The most fundamental rights of defendants including the right to legal representation are denied in the Islamic Judiciary and many verdicts are based on forced confessions extracted through psychological and physical torture.
According to Human rights organizations, as yet unnamed five additional protesters have been sentenced to death.
Earlier last month 3 Iranian protesters were sentenced to death but thanks to international pressure and a hash tag of #DontExecute with four million twitts forced the Islamic Republic to put on hold their execution.
Union for Secular Republic and Human rights in Iran, condemns the sentence and sends its condolences to the Salehi family and the Iranian People.
