We support the peaceful struggle of the Palestinians for a life without discrimination on their land!
Last week, following a violent crackdown on Palestinian protesters at the Al-Qassa Mosque, a wave of violent clashes erupted between Arabs and Jews in Israel. Subsequent to rockets fired from Gaza into Israeli territory, followed by a heavy Israeli airstrike on the area, 145 civilians, including 27 children, mostly Palestinians were killed. The clashes erupted after an Israeli court arranged for an unfair eviction of some homes in the eastern part of Jerusalem in favor of Jewish settlers. Jerusalem, under UN Security Council Resolution 478, is illegally occupied by Israel and must be returned to the Palestinians. Accordingly, jurists believe that Israeli courts have no legal authority over residents of the occupied territories.
According to Amnesty International, the Israeli government has committed "institutional discrimination" against Palestinians living in the country. According to a recent report by Human Rights Watch, Israeli authorities have committed apartheid against Palestinians inside Israel and Palestinians in the Occupied Territories in the West Bank and Gaza, which is an example of a crime against humanity.
Israeli settlements, especially in Netanyahu's administration, have reached a point where there is virtually nothing left of Palestine. The Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran supports the demand for the right of the Palestinians to live in a non-discriminatory and secure life on their territory and encourages them to pursue this demand peacefully.
Unfortunately, Israeli cities are embroiled in rampant violence between Jews and Arabs, as the Israeli president has called the situation "meaningless civil war." On the other hand, Hamas, with its aimless missile strikes on Israel, its insistence on military action instead of peaceful struggle and the use of residential and training facilities as a human shield against Israel, paved the way for an unjustified and inhumane attack by the Israeli government on Gaza and the killing of civilians.
The news indicates that the Israeli army is preparing to enter Gaza on the border, which could cause the eruption of war volcanoes and the death of defenseless and oppressed people in the region, and open the way for jihadist groups to enter the field.
The Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran (USRHR) condemns the actions of the Netanyahu government in the occupation of Palestinian territory and the military offensive and killing of Palestinian civilians. It also condemns the provocative actions of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the targeting of ordinary Israeli citizens.
USRHR urges the Palestinians to insist on a peaceful struggle, while emphasizing the legitimacy of the Palestinians' demand and their sovereignty over the occupied territories in accordance with Security Council resolutions.
We also warn the Islamic Republic not to sacrifice the national interests of Iran and the lives of the oppressed people of the Middle East to its regional adventures, and to refrain from any financial support or weapons from militant groups. The international community must also act responsibly and stop the spread of the conflict as soon as possible and establish a ceasefire. It is time for serious action to implement the UN resolutions and the two-state solution.
