A new round of arbitrary arrests and detentions has begun in Iran. Famous directors Mohammad Rasoulof, Mostafa AlAhmad, Ja’far Panahi along with political critique Mustafa Tadjzadeh were taken into custody charged with "connection with Counter-revolutions", "disruption of the Security of the Society”, “colluding to act against the security of the country". According to news coming from Iran more arrests to follow.
Similar to other despotic regimes, the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) is using the same language afraid of peaceful protests and decent.
Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran condemns these arrests and demand for their immediate release along with other political prisoners.
Mohammad Rasoulof, Mostafa AlAhmad are among the signatories of the protest statement "Put down your gun" in which more than a hundred Iranian cinematographers asked the military to put down their weapons and join the people.
Dear Friends,
The Iranian People need our support more than ever. Not a single day goes by that a peaceful protest is not crushed! We ask all international bodies, human rights organizations and world leaders to condemn this onslaught on the people of Iran and in their contacts with Islamic Republic Administrator to demand for immediate release of the political prisoners and respect for human rights of the People of Iran.
