Congratulatory Letter to President Silva of Brazil
Senhor Presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva,
Em nome da União para a República Secular e Direitos Humanos no Irã, tenho o prazer de parabenizá-lo como próximo Presidente do Brasil. A transferência pacífica de poder mostra a força da mudança democrática em seu país.
Por muito tempo, o povo iraniano desejou um dia em que, em uma eleição livre e justa, ele pudesse eleger seus próprios candidatos à presidência. Infelizmente, esse não é o caso no Irã de hoje, quando várias pessoas selecionadas examinam os candidatos e selecionam aqueles que estão próximos de seus interesses e mentalidade.
Mas hoje o Irã está passando por uma grande mudança em busca de democracia e liberdade. O que foi levantado há quase 2 meses com a morte de um inocente curdo iraniano, Mahsa “Jian” Amini, pela chamada polícia da moralidade por não usar o véu forçado (Hijab). A raiva pública em relação a essa brutalidade se transformou em um protesto nacional contra todo o sistema da República Islâmica do Irã, enfatizando os slogans e as pessoas são “Mulher, vida, liberdade” e “morte à República Islâmica”.
Senhor Presidente,
Nossa organização com membros em todo o mundo e ainda assim eles não têm permissão para retornar à sua terra natal está com aqueles no Irã que lutam por justiça e direitos humanos.O regime, como todo regime autocrático, não tem piedade dos manifestantes pacíficos e voltou suas armas e munições contra as pessoas, matando muitos, incluindo crianças.
Estamos escrevendo para você para pedir sua ajuda. Convidamos você a:
- Lembre-se do seu embaixador do Irã, um país que não respeita seus próprios cidadãos,
- Nas próximas votações sobre a situação dos direitos humanos do Irã nas Nações Unidas, dê um voto positivo,
- Em qualquer nível de reuniões intergovernamentais com a República Islâmica do Irã trazer à tona a desastrosa condição de direitos humanos do povo iraniano.
A hashtag #MahsaAmini se tornou uma das hashtags mais repetidas no Twitter persa. O número de tweets e retuítes dessas hashtags ultrapassou 80 milhões.
Senhor Presidente,
O povo iraniano precisa de nossa ajuda e apoio! Mahsa junto com muitas gerações jovens de iranianos não estão mais entre nós. Mas seu coração e mente ainda estão bem vivos e lutando para conquistar seus direitos humanos básicos.

On behalf of the Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran, I have the pleasure of congratulating you as the next President of Brazil. The peaceful transfer of power shows the strength of democratic change in your country.
Far too long the Iranian People have wished for such a day where in a free and fair election they would be able to elect their own candidates for presidency. Unfortunately, that is not the case in today’s Iran when a number of selected people vet the candidates and select those that are close to their interests and mindset. But today Iran is going through a big change seeking democracy and liberty. What was sparked nearly 2 months ago with the death of an innocent Iranian Kurd, Mahsa “Jian” Amini, by the so-called morality police for not wearing the forced veil (Hijab). The public anger toward this brutality has turned into a nationwide protest against the whole system of Islamic Republic of Iran by chanting “Woman, life, freedom” and “death to the Islamic Republic”.
Honorable President,
Our organization with members across the globe and yet they are not allowed to return to their homeland stands with those in Iran fighting for justice and human rights. The regime like every autocratic regime has no mercy on peaceful demonstrators and have turned their guns and ammunitions on the people killing many, including the children.
We are writing to you to ask for your help. We urge you to:
- Recall your ambassador from Iran, a country that has no respect for its own citizens,
- At any upcoming votes on Iran’s human rights situation at the United Nations cast a positive vote,
- In any level of inter-governmental meetings with the Islamic Republic of Iran bring up the disastrous human rights condition of the Iranian People.
The hashtag #MahsaAmini became one of the most repeated hashtags on Twitter. The number of tweets and retweets of these hashtags exceeded 150 million.
Honorable President,
The Iranian People need our help and support! Mahsa along with many young generation of Iranians are no longer with us. But their heart and mind are still well alive and fighting to gain their basic human rights.
