We, the undersigned Iranian independent women groups and organizations in the diaspora, are taking a firm stand against gross, systematic, and structural violence and human rights violations in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The executions in the past week of Mohsen Shekari and Majidreza Rahnavard, both 23, after swift court judgements without the presence of defense lawyers and any proof of guilt has shocked human rights advocates around the world. At least 26 people who are charged with capital offenses and awaiting or undergoing sham trials are at great risk of execution in connection with nationwide peaceful protests.
Peaceful demonstrators all over the country are facing armed gangs who shoot at them in close range with live ammunition. The Islamic regime in Iran, has chosen to resort to the ultimate act of terror to silence the people who have demonstrated across the country and to instill fear among the public and end protests.
The lives of more than 18,000 prisoners who are arrested in the recent protests are in the hands of the Islamic regime in Iran. We demand to immediately stop all convictions, death sentences including kidnapping, torture and killing of protestors and release all political prisoners.
We call on all global communities to pressure and hold Iran accountable and to put an official moratorium on executions and abolish the death penalty.
