Elahe Machouf

Activities Committee Coordinator

Born in 1943 in Tehran, Elahe is a nurse by profession. One of the founder of Iran’s National Association of Nurses in 1976 which was banned by the government in 1980. After Migrating to Canada, she was active Federation of Nurses in Quebec and United Party of Quebec.  In 1990, Ms. Machouf help found the Women’s Association in Montreal.  She was a member of United Republicans if Iran and now a member of Political-Executive Committee of the USRHR.  Ms. Machouf lives in Montreal, Canada.

Mitra Aliabouzar

Women’s & Anti-discrimination Committee Coordinator

Born in 1986 in Tehran.  Bachelor of Biochemical Engineering from Amirkabir University (Polytechnic); Master's degree from Sharif University, PhD in Mechanical Engineering from George Washington University and Postdoctoral researcher at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She was a former member of Islamic Association at Amirkabir and Sharif Universities and was the editor of Simourhg journal in Amirkabir University. She was imprisoned in the Islamic Republic of Iran during 1988 and 1989.  She is a member of Political-Executive committee of the USRHR as well as the President of Iranian Democratic Student Association at GWU. Ms. Aliabouzar lives in Michigan, USA.

Parviz Mokhtari

International Relations Committee Coordinator

Born in 1950. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Tehran. Master of Industrial Economics Management, University of Hamburg. Political Activist since 1968 and political prisoner during the Shah's Regime. Republican political activist with justice-seeking tendencies since 2003.  Mr. Mokhtari lives in Hamburg, Germany.

Mehdi Amini

Finance Director

Born in 1960 with a degree in Computer Science.  He is currently working in health industry. Politically active since childhood he was a member of United Republicans of Iran and the Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran. Mr. Amini lives in Virginia, USA.

Ali Afshari

Political Committee Coordinator

He was born in Qazvin in 1973 and achieved a Doctorate degree in System’s Engineering from George Washington University. He had previously received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Industrial Engineering from Amirkabir University.  He has four terms of membership in the Central Council of the Islamic Association of Amirkabir University and three terms of membership in the Central Council of the Office of Consolidation of Unity (The largest student union in Iran) in his political record. He was an active figure in the reformist movement who was in charge of the student section of Seyyed Mohammad Khatami's campaign during the first round of presidential elections.  Mr. Afshari was a political prisoner for three years. He also won the 2005 Human Rights Watch award and published a book with Mr. Nasser Zarafshan titled "On Evolution." He currently works as a researcher at the US Food and Drug Administration and is a visiting professor at George Washington University. Mr. Afshari lives in Virginia, USA.

Mehdi Arabshahi

Organizing and Finance Committee Coordinator

He began his political career as a student and became a member of the General Council during the years 1999 to 209, and then the Central Council of the Office for the Consolidation of Unity. Arabshahi was selected by the students as the political secretary of the Office for Consolidation of Unity and then the secretary of the organization of this student union in the years 2006 to 2008.

He graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering from Zanjan University and, while pursuing a master's degree in technology management at Allameh Tabatabai University, was expelled due to his political and student activities.  During his activism he was arrested 4 times and spend more than 100 days in prison.

He left Iran in 2011 to pursue his education and received his Master’s degree in public administration and policy at Rockefeller College, New York State University. Mr. Arabshahi lives in Virginia, USA.

Hajir Attari

Media and Public Relations Committee Coordinator

Born in 1982 he graduated in Industrial Engineering, majoring in Systems Analysis. His political activities since 2001 he has been the editor, writer and reporter for "Jaras" and "Kalameh" Websites. He was active in Mir Hossein Moussavi’ s Presidential campaign in 2009 and work with "kalameh sabz" and "Khordad no" websites. He has been a Secular Republican activists since 2018.  Mr. Attari lives in Sweden.

Koroush Parsa

PhD in Electronics and communications from University of New York.  Mr. Parsa has inventions in the field of 3G and 4G wireless communications.

Active in the Iranian Internet Human Rights Group between 1992 and 1999; founder of the Internet Democracy Network in Iran, a platform based on republicanism. One of the founders of the Center for the Defense of Democracy in Iran. One of the founders of the Alliance for the Promotion of Secular Democracy in Iran in 2010, a Republican which with alliance with other organizations formed the Union for Secular Republic and Human Rights in Iran.  Mr. Parsa lives in Connecticut, USA.

Arash Aalam

Born in 1971. Graduate of English Translation from the Free University with a Bachelor's degree. History of cooperation with some domestic publications as a translator and editor; Translator of the International Police of Iran during his military service.

Student activist during President Hashemi Rafsanjani term and a member of Construction Party during 6th Parliament (limited time). Active in artist’s committee of Khatami Presidency in 1997 and active in Moussavi Presidential campaign.  He also worked with "Jaras" and "Akhbar Rouz" websites during the Green Movement.  Mr. Aalam lives in Netherland.

Amir Sassan Sharafi

Financial expert and translator. He has a history of cooperation with non-governmental organizations and institutions in social and environmental issues in Iran and Germany; cooperation with selected headquarters during the reforms. Collaboration with the "People's Vote Protection" headquarters at the Mehdi Karroubi Headquarters in 2009, as well as voluntary cooperation with NGOs in the field of refugee and immigrants in Germany. Mr. Sharafi lives in Germany.
